Craig Venter published in “Science” magazine, has built the genome of a bacterium from scratch and incorporated it into a cell to make the world’s first “synthetic life form”. I wonder what thoughts my fellow science loving philosophers think of this?
I for one have my doubts about his definition of life.
He started with a genome and inserted into a pre-existing cell.
Incredible experiment either way but… new life? I am not convinced. Would love to read some comments on this topic!
